A river or river is a large body of naturally flowing fresh water[34]. Rivers generally
originate in mountainous regions. The land on either side of the river is called the river
bank. Rivers usually join another river, lakes or oceanCurrent in a river is due to gravity.
Sometimes rivers are absorbed into the ground or dry up before reaching another water table.
Larger streams are called rivers and smaller ones are called streams. However, there is no
general rule as to what can be called a river.
