With a record 1,093 patents to his name, Edison is considered one of the most prolific 
inventors. Some of these were not invented by him; Amendments to earlier licenses.. 
Edison obtained licenses in several countries including the United States,
 United Kingdom,
 France and Germany.
Edison founded the Motion Picture Patent Company, commonly known as the Edison Trust,
 a consortium of nine leading film studios.
